Frequently asked Questions

The executive and management welcome you to the Club

HOW DO I JOIN THE SILVERDALE  RSA ?

Firstly you must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident of New Zealand or a Citizen of another Commonwealth Country.  Permanent residency means that the person holds the relevant documentation in terms of New Zealand Immigration Policy. A work permit is not  sufficient.
There are FOUR categories of  Silverdale RSA membership 'RETURNED' servicemen and women who have served in any war or in a peacekeeping or peacemaking deployment as defined by RNZRSA.

'SERVICE' members are either retired or serving members of the Armed forces who do not qualify for "returned" membership.  They include those who have served under CMT, the Territorial Forces, Cadet Force Officers and sworn members of the New Zealand Police.

If you qualify under the above two categories all you need to do is bring documentary evidence of your service into our Office. Office hours are Monday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm.

'ASSOCIATE' Any person of good repute seeking admission as an "Associate" member shall be nominated and seconded for membership by two financial members of this RSA.  A person so nominated shall only be elected to membership provided he has paid the prescribed  entrance fee and provided further that his election takes place by ballot of the Executive committee after his name and photo have been placed on the notice board for 14 days and objections have been duly called for.

'WOMEN'S SECTION' Any Wife or Widow of a Returned or Serviceman may apply for membership to our Women's Section.  Any ladies applying shall be nominated and seconded for membership by two financial members of our Women' s Section.   A person so nominated shall only be elected to membership provided she has paid the prescribed entrance fee and provided further that
her election takes place by ballot of the Women's Section Committee.

Please note that Returned or Service Women members can also belong to the Women's Section at no charge.   Associate Women members can also pay a little extra to belong to the Women's Section as well .

'BENEFITS OF BELONGING'
We offer friendly licensed facilities where members and their guests can enjoy a drink in pleasant surroundings. We have our own family restaurant which has a good reputation and offers a full a-la-carte menu, with a pension day meal every second Tuesday and a Buffet meal on the last Sunday of the month. We also have a TAB, Gaming Machines, Digital TV on a large screen, raffles and movies.

Every Friday and Saturday nights we have live  Entertainment and throughout the year we have different shows which you can attend for a very reasonable price. We hold a Member's Draw every Wednesday Evening at  6.30 pm where every member who is here has the chance to win between $500.00 and $1600.00. If you attend the club on Wednesday you go in the Draw to Win the second prize of $25.00 and if you are here on the night you go into the draw to win the third prize  of a $25.00 meal voucher for our Restaurant. We have a loyalty points system.  When you purchase something at our Bar or Restaurant points are recorded on your membership card and these point can be used for a free drink, free dessert or you may like to save them up and help pay your membership at the end of each year.

We offer a Welfare Service from Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm  where we transport members who need to visit Auckland Hospitals for appointments and can no longer drive themselves. Our Welfare Service also includes for Ex-service members advice on War Disability and War Veterans Pensions. Any member's funeral service can be held at the Silverdale RSA but it must be held at 10 am and be over by 11 am when our clubrooms open. WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR SUBSCRIPTION ?
