Don’t forget that if you have a
special birthday or anniversary
or you would just like to bring
a group of friends up to the
Club for a meal, we are happy
for you to make a booking. Our
Executive Committee have agreed
that members can book tables out
by the dance floor if they are
having a meal. There is no
charge for the premises and we
will do the organising for you.

BRINGING FOOD ONTO OUR
PREMISES
Please note you cannot bring
food into the Silverdale
RSA. There was a Club who
allowed members to do this a
few years ago and someone
got food poisoning. The
Health Authorities closed
that Club’s Restaurant for
six week while they
investigated, costing the
club a lot of money. I am
sure that none of our
members would like to see
this happen at Silverdale.
All food must be purchased
from our Restaurant.
MUSEUM
Our Museum has just had a
revamp and will now be open
for members to visit every
Wednesday commencing
Wednesday the 1st February
2012 from 1pm to 4pm. If
you or someone you know
would like to visit and
can’t make it on a Wednesday
then please contact Patricia
Stroud who will be happy to
arrange a suitable time with
you.
Auckland District RSA Youth Tour
For the past
41years Auckland District’s
RSA’s have run a reciprocal tour
programme with the New South
Wales RSL’s. We send a group of
youths on tour to New South
Wales one year and then they
send a group to us the next.
This tour programme helps to
foster the spirit of ANZAC
co-operation which is vital to
our way of life, defence of NZ
and our Pacific neighbours.
This year we have
had two youths who have been
chosen from our RSA’s; Krista
Argar and Mathew Taylor. To
help them raise the money to
attend we will be running a car
boot sale here in the Car park
on
Saturday the 18th
February 2012 starting at 10am.
The cost to park your car here
and sell your goods is $10.00
per car. Now I am sure we all
have items that we do not use
anymore which others could make
good use of. Just put these
items into the back of your car
and come up on the 18th February
2012 and sell them. The money
you make from selling your goods
is yours.
There is only a
charge of $10.00 to park your
car and sell them and the money
is helping Krista and Mathew
attend the Auckland District RSA
Youth Tour. We will also have a
sausage sizzle on the day and an
Open day for any one you
know who would like to join the
Silverdale RSA.
On Sunday 19th
February
we plan to have a
Youth Concert. There will be a
door charge of $5.00 and this
money will also help to send
Krista and Mathew on the Youth
Tour.
FAMILY CLUB
I would like
to remind members that we
are a Family Club and that
we are happy for children to
come with their Parents or
Grandparents to the Club.
Children are
permitted onto the dance
floor until 8.30pm if they
are accompanied by an adult.
After this time we ask that
children leave the dance
floor for the adults. The
only thing we ask of
Parents/Grandparents is to
ensure that children are
well supervised or, in other
words, they are not left to
run around in the Clubrooms
as we do have a lot of
members who are unsteady on
their feet or who have had
hip replacements etc.
Children
running around make these
members very nervous, which
I am sure most people would
understand. Please note we
do have some colouring
pencils and pictures for
children to colour. These
are at the Bar and we have
an X-Box which the older
children can play.
